The Magnolia Cutoff was created to shorten the route of the East End. The B&O built four tunnels (Randolph, Stuart, Graham, and Carothers) and two bridges (Magnolia and Kesselers) in just 5 miles. At the time it was built (1913-1914), this was one of the great civil engineering triumphs in America. This is also an area of the line just begging to be modeled. Bridges and tunnels running together make great models. I only plan on modeling two bridges and two tunnels. It would take way too much space to do all four tunnels.
