reefers
Reefers...
These are some of my favorite cars. The general
paint job was yellow sides and blue ends, however some got the standard
all blue paint job.
I use the names "Reefer" for all "Mechanical Reefers"
and "Insulated Boxcars". Insulated boxcars have no refrigeration
system, like a mechanical reefer, but both are designed to keep the
contents
at a cool or cold temperature, so they are all "reefers" to me.

< style="font-style: italic; text-decoration: underline;">INACCURATE CARS BELOW: Shown here to
show how I made some stand in cars before I added the reefers
above. First car is currently being repainted and redecaled.
Below is a Bachmann kit that you can pick up for
about
$3. Just paint the ends and top blue and weather it like
crazy.
Whalla, you have a "quasi-reefer".
Below is a Bev-Bel kit that came all yellow. I
decided
it too needed the "reefer" treatment. Don't throw away those
wildly
incorrect cars, like this one, try and make something out of
them.
These kits aren't anywhere near prototypically correct, but you can
salvage
these types of kits.
