PROTOTYPE MODELING

There are many different types of prototype modeling. Some focus on strictly engines, some on places and others simply on rolling stock or intermodal. No matter what type you model however, they all have one thing in common; the modeler is trying to represent their models in the most correct way that is avaliable to them.

Luckily today, there are many companies out there that are adjusting to the needs of the Prototype Modeler. For those interested in EMD locomotives, Cannon and Company, (owned by Gordon Cannon) has a great line of EMD Second Generation cabs, noses and sub-bases, along wiith different arrays of compartment doors and other super detail parts.

Below are pictures of models that have either already undergone the 1:87 treatment, are going to undergo it, or are in the middle of it.

The SD75I  at the top of the page was put together from the Athearn Genesis SD75I kit. This engine is not kitbashed, but is basically an undecorated SD75I straight out of the box, that has been custom painted and decaled. (Also note that the general detail parts have been applied. Ie; Details West ATSF style plow, MU Cable, MU Hose and a Detail Associates Uncoupling lever.)

The Santa Fe C30-7 is an Atlas painted engine with some added detail parts.
