NRHS 2016 Convention Georgetown Loop Photo Bus Trip Part 2 7/21/2016

by Chris Guenzler

We are at Devil's Gate station.

Here our steam engine has uncoupled from our train.

The steam engine ran around our train. The diesel then went by the train and would be used as a helper on our return trip. Now we will reverse under Devil's Gate Viaduct.

The train went under the viaduct and we completed our Georgetown Loop. We would now head back up the grade to Silver Plume.

A car full of very happy NRHS members.

The train is heading to Devil's Gate Viaduct. Now let us watch our steam train cross it.

The train has crossed the Devil's Gate Viaduct.

The steam engine sanded the flues and gave out a lot of smoke. We returned to Silver Plume and we were the first two bus hosts off the train. It had been a fantastic trip behind steam on the Georgetown Loop Railroad. Once everyone was back on the chase bus, we departed Silver Plume for the Scenic Overlook off Interstate 70. I led the way to the "Sweet Spot" for loop photography on the bike trail while Skip Waters brought up the rear. Elizabeth stayed at the overlook with the people who did not want to walk to the "Sweet Spot". I arrived down there in time to catch the diesel crossing Devil's Gate Viaduct.

The diesel crossed the viaduct and made its way all the way to Devil's Gate station. Now we would wait for the steam train to do the same thing.

The steam train crossed the viaduct and headed to Devil's Gate station.

The engine switching and heading to the west end of the train. Now we will watch the train complete the loop.

The steam train has completed the Georgetown Loop. Now let us watch it come back up the grade and over Devil's Gate Viaduct.

This was the final set of photographs at the Georgetown Loop Railroad. Now the bus picked us up and we headed to Golden.
