Train Festival Day 1 7/21/2011

by Chris Guenzler

We left the Motel 6 in Moline and they dropped me off at the Train Festival 2011 since I had arranged to be on the grounds prior to the start of the event. Wearing my Press Pass no one bothered me as I started my coverage of this great event.

They had moved the tank engines near the main gate for a few minutes.

Viscose 0-4-0T 6. I went and got my media kit and wrist band for the day. I then bought a program and Train Festival 2011 T-shirt.

The crowd is building outside the main gate.

At 9:00 AM the gate opened.

Everyone was orderly and then went to the right spot whether it was wrist bands with their tickets they had pre bought or will call or needing to buy tickets.

The city of Rock Island has a real nice park here with this fountain.

A train movement parted the crowd waiting to enter Train Festival 2011.

This little engine was about to be moved into position.

That same 15'' gauge miniature railroad engine now spotted in the right place. I was time to take a ride. I was the first passenger to board a 7.5"" gauge miniature railroad train at Train Festival 2011.

The swing span was open on the Government Bridge. After my ride I took a series of pictures of the 7.5"" gauge miniature railroad train at Train Festival 2011.

The crowd was still entering at the main gate. I saw Bob and Elizabeth and took them over to get their programs and Train Festival 2011 T-Shirts.
