Missoula to Blossburg Pictures

Photos by Chris Guenzler

The former Milwaukee Road grade ran right along the Northern Pacific and the bottom of the overhead wire poles still remain.

A Milwaukee Road bridge over the Clark Fork River. I wish I could go back in time to this location with a Milwaukee Road Little Joe lending a freight train through the canyon here. Note the overhead poles in this and the next few pictures.

Exiting the Bonita Tunnel with the old twin tunnel of the Milwaukee Road off to the left.

Exiting the Nimrod Tunnel with another old twin tunnel of the Milwaukee Road off to the left.

I could image the North Coast Limited racing a Milwaukee Road train through this canyon.

The beautiful scene along the Clark Fork River.

Our dining car all set up for lunch in an hour and a half.

The Milwaukee Road Substation at Ravenna.

The grade stiffens as the train climbs towards Mullen Pass.

Each curve provides another chance for a picture.

The air smells so clean as we near the summit.

The Montana Daylight entering the Mullen Tunnel.
