by Chris Guenzler

The Santa Fe 3751 has reached the shore of the Pacific Ocean.

The train ran beneath the bluffs as it entered San Clemente.

Between the homes and the mobile homes there is a short section of open beach.

There was a tree planted by an El Nino Storm years ago that the locals have attached a USA Flag to and it flies for our freedom we all have in the United States of America.

Church at the Beach was just finishing up when the Santa Fe 3751 steamed through North Beach.

The San Clemente Pier is ahead of the train.

A look back from where we had been.

Looking back towards Dana Point.

Just a few of these cars are chasing our special steam train this morning. At CP Westbrook we took the siding as the Santa Fe 3751 will be watered at Fallbrook Jct this morning.

The Santa Fe 3751 headed for the underpass for the southbound I-5

The Santa Fe 3751 rolled down the siding to the point where the Fire Truck was waiting with hoses hooked up to a fire hydrant and would pump water into the tender. Since we would be stopped I would take this chance to go to the Overland Trail and visit with Tom and Kelly plus Steve and Barbara. In the Silver Lariat I found Andy Smith and in the City of Angels I found my good friend Chris Parker.

Tom and Kelly Marshall, owners of the Depot Inn & Suites.

Steve and Barbara enjoying the Overland Trail.

Doug Spin, owner of the wonderful Pacific Sands and a member of the La Rail private rail cars for charter.

Later back in the Pony Express, the view of where the Fire truck was parked and the distance they had to use hoses to reach our steam engine tender. Once they finished, we waited for both Surfliners 566 and 769 to pass over on the mainline before we were allowed to continue south. The Santa Fe 3751 returned to the mainline crossing the San Luis Rey River.

South of Escondido Jct, a new section was put in to extend the Oceanside siding and the old line is having its bridge across Loma Lagoon and Creek replaced.

Where the replacement bridge across Loma Lagoon and Creek is being put in.

The Santa Fe 3751 takes that section of new mainline south of Loma Lagoon and Creek.

The train crossed Buena Vista Lagoon.

The train ran by the former Santa Fe Carlsbad Station.

The train crossed Agua Hedionda Creek and Lagoon.

At Coaster Carlsbad Poinsettia Station this is where we did the PhotoRrunby on that June 1, 2008 trip to San Diego. That made my memory go back to the fantastic day.

This was the Photo Runby of the Santa Fe 3751 on June 1st, 2008 from the location in the picture above.

The Santa Fe 3751 has crested the summit of Miramar Hill at CP Cumbres.
