On to College Fjord 8/29/2004

by Chris Guenzler

I had gone to sleep in the Gulf of Alaska and woke up in the Gulf of Alaska over two hundred miles northwest. I enjoyed a buffet breakfast with my Mother as the ship passed Cape ST Ellis. I did my clothes washing in the laundry room right across from ours as I watched Shierk II.

The ship passed the lighthouse at Cape Hinchinbrook and entered the Hinchinbrook Entrance to Prince William Sound.

The ship passed the Columbia Glacier.

Ice floats after being calved from the Columbia Glacier.

I enjoyed my final buffet lunch of the cruise before I went up to the front of the Lido Deck and sat enjoying the view of the Chugach Mountains.

Later our ship passed Two Tree Island with the beautiful mountains behind.

The ship turned north into College Fjord.

The magnificent mountains off to the right of the ship.

The Barry Glacier.

A distant view of the Harvard Glacier.

A parade of sea otters cruised by the Sun Princess to the amazement of our deck passengers.

More of the beautiful peaks and glaciers. We were blest by absolutely beautiful clear weather.

The Holyoke Glacier.

The Benard Glacier.

Combined view of the Wellesley, Vasar, Bryn Mawr and Smith Glaciers.

The Wellesley Glacier.

That cave in the Wellesley Glacier is over 100 feet high.

The Yale Glacier.

The Dartmouth Glacier.

The Vassar Glacier no longer reaches the tide of College Fjord.

The Bryn Mawr Glacier.

The Smith Glacier barely reaches the tide.

The Sun Princess moved closer and closer to the Harvard Glacier.

Views of the Harvard Glacier.

The Harvard Glacier calving and I caught it on film.

One woman finally noticed the Harvard Glacier.

I did my final E-mail check before a few departing pictures of College Fjord. I went back to my room to watch "Cheaper by the Dozen". I watched "Fire Down Under" before getting dressed for the final diner in the Regency Dining Room.

A group picture of all who dined with my Mother and I as well as Valentin and Katarzyna Tonight.

I went up to the Promenade Deck to watch the sun set on what had been another fantastic day. I had Prime Rib with my first ever Baked Alaska for dessert. Back in the room, I put our bags out in the hall then watched Sport Center before calling it a final night on the Sun Princess.

The Ship cruised Prince William Sound to Whittier where we arrived at midnight.
