Who is CIGRS?
The
Central Iowa Garden Railway Society has regular monthly
meeting at which we discuss others current projects,
hobby news and the latest products on the market.
A program is presented at each meeting, either by one of
our members, or by someone brought from outside the
organization. The programs generally cover some
element of the hobby, from the history of local and
other railroads, to rolling stock, to track work, to
miniature gardening. The business end of the
meeting is usually kept to a minimum.
The club encompasses all facets of this fascinating
hobby, and includes electric operation, battery-powered
equipment, and trains that actually run on live
steam. Most of our members have, or hope to have G
gauge or Gauge 1 railroads in the gardens, backyards or
basements.
Meetings are typically held on the third Sunday of the
month, with the specific dates, times and program topics
announced in the Telegraph,
our monthly newsletter.
Club members are encouraged to involve themselves in any
of a variety of functions, including special model
railway exhibitions which are staged in the area. |
