Conrail 10 - Observation Car
Amtrak Private Car # - 800
176

Built in 1922 as the Queen Elizabeth for the New York Central.  The rear platform is extra large and was designed for Franklin Roosevelt's wheelchair. Throughout its rich history, the car has changed names many times, but ended up as Track Inspection Car 30 for the New York Central.  Penn Central used the car for same purpose, but numbered it 76.  Conrail gutted the interior of the car and used it for the same purpose as Conrail 12.  CSXT has since repainted the car and continues to use it on its Office Car Specials. Remember to ask for my permission if you intend to use these pictures elsewhere.

Riding the platform is Conrail's Carl Kennedy who was in charge of the Office Car trains Mechanical upkeep.  He usually rode all of the trains. His office on the train was the lower bedroom in Conrail's Full Dome Car 55. Think of the stories he could tell us about the train!
