The 8400s group consisted of the follwing units : ALCO RS-2 units (#8400-8404), MLW RS-2 (#8405-8408), GMD GP7 (#8409-8425) with a 1500 Hp. 16-567 2-cycle engine, MLW RS-3 (#8426-8461) fitted with a 1600 Hp. ALCO 244 V12 ,4-cycle engine; MLW RS-10 (#8462-8482), also fitted with a 1600 Hp. ALCO 244 engine, and GMD GP9 (#8483-8499) with a 1750 Hp. 16-567 2-cycle engine.
