Southern Ontario
Railfanning March 10th 17th 2006 Saturday
March 11th
Angola / Hanover / Buffalo, New York) It was an early rise just after 0600 in Oakville. We had a bagel for breakfast and a cup of coffee while waking up. Shortly afterwards we gathered our railfanning equipment and headed out the door. We first went to Hamiltons McMaster University to pick up Brendan before heading for the border. There was no trouble at the border and we would start railfanning the busy CSX line at 1000. There is a much quieter Norfolk Southern line in close proximity however it was quite.
After that we called it a day and headed back. We stopped in at a hobby
shop where we caught a pair of CSX SD70ACEs pulling a container train east.
There were some yard movements shot as well but I didnt bother to record
them. Upon arrival into Oakville I called my brother to come and pick me up, as
I would spend Saturday night and Sunday with him and his girlfriend. (John

We left Oakville around 0900 enroute to Brantford to meet up with Tim
Stevens for a day of railfanning. The weather was not the greatest but the
traffic was really good along with the FPON around the CNR today.

It was another early morning for a day of railfanning. Me and Rob left to
catch the 0725 GO out of Oakville which we missed so we would catch the other
train. We would be meeting up with Jason Bartlett who would meet us at Union
Station. Since we had to catch the next train we would be riding the same train
along with another 1300 GO commuters. At Union Station we all met up and then
rode together to Oshawa where we would meet with Tim Stevens. We had another
good day of railfanning. We managed to get stuck at Clarke West which required a
tow truck (no cost thanks to CAA) and then upon riding the GO train back I
discovered I some how lost all my data off my memory card. Oh well, I have lots
of video footage. 1.

We had a good sleep and left around 1000 to head over to pick up Brendan
for the day. It was a fair day with lots of sun and some good FPON kicking
around. The only train we really got cloud Fed on was CP 159 with the SOO
6059 on the point which we chased and shot again with no luck. 1.

This would be my final day of railfanning in Southern Ontario. I had an
excellent time and saw lots of intresting stuff and met lots of other foamers.
We left after 0900 and spent a few hours trackside, then headed to Hutches and
Credit Valley hobby shops before my departure of 1715 from the downtown
terminal. On my bus ride home I caught one train staged in White River. While
railfanning we ran into Jason Bartlett and Brendan Frisina.
