It is now taken out, at Struthers there was a branch leading up to Manitouwadge, Ontario to serve the mining, forest products, and chemicle industries. With the mines closing and the forests being cut further away from the tracks this line had little use and was taken out in the late 90's. There was also a connection to the CNR to Hillsport, ON.

Keefer Terminal/K yard/IMS ramp:
At Keefer Terminal, biggest customers
are Bowater and Arnone Transport. There are approximately 10 to 12 sheds/doors
(K34 thru K75) to spot at the big warehouse and a platform (K66) for
transloading/shipping of Bowater Lumber.
Pig ramp....... 2 tracks, KIMS 1 and
KIMS 2 for Thunder Bay IMS service.
Downtown/E yard area:
Bole's Feed, track EY1
1 car spot for grain (Hardisty Street)
There's also track E29A.... the fuel
ramp next to the diesel shops where we spot 3 tanks of fuel oil/diesel for
T.Bay Mechanical services to off-load.
TBTL - Thunder Bay Terminals Limited:
CP coal and potash trains go here to
unload their cargo as do CN coal trains. 2 tracks, an outer/outward coal
loop and and inner/inward potash loop.
Q yard/Island industries:
Nearby at "QILD" (Q yard,
Island lead) is the spot for LaFarge Cement.... we frequently place those
short CRDX hoppers there for those guys to transload.
Petro Canada:
3 tracks.... QX10 (5 car spot/unload for
unleaded gas), QX11 (5 car spot/unload for diesel fuel) and QX12 (10 car
storage track). Empties can either be CN or CP, CP goes to Winnipeg and
CN to the transfer in Westfort.
Lakehead Scrap Metals (LHS):
Known to us CP yardmen as "the car
basher", track ID QX9... can spot anywhere from 1 to 5 gons for loadout
of scrap, usually destined to Regina, SK.
Lakeland Feeds, track QX7:
Located off the north track around mile
1.7 Kam Sub, we spot hoppers there on the rare occasion, usually 2 or 3 cars.
Westfort yard:
Really, the only "industry" is
Western Grain (Pool 10) elevator with 3 tracks for spotting grain.
CN Mission area:
Since the Spring of 2003, CP has been
exercising their "Joint Access Agreement" with respect to the
elevators, and CP goes down the CN Mission Spur to service the Mission
Terminal [Pool 15] (5 tracks) and Cargill [Pool 14] grain elevators (6
tracks).
Finally and the extreme west/south end
of the CP terminal in town is......
Bowater:
Where to start? A whole whack of
tracks and little industries within the largest pulp & paper mill in
Canada....... 9 doors at the paper sheds (P83 thru 91), one track for a
6-car spot on the kraft side (P51), a 5-car spot for the waferboard/recycling
plant (P48), a one car spot for the turpentine and tall oil spot (P93), spots
at the chemical plant (P27 and P28) as well as Erco WorldWide right behind P28
(inside a shed).
Nearby is Bombardier where we haven't
been to in probably close to a year account no contracts/no cars to pull/spot.
And.....
Dow Chemical:
One track, 12-car spot, 8 behind the
house/shed and 4 inside for unloading.
Dynea Chemical (old Neste Resins):
Located along Montreal Street....... 2
tracks behind the gate and 5 different spots for a variety of nasty stuff such
as formaldehye, urea, phenol, and methanol.
