What's New

5/31/09 - Another update is upon us. The paint booth at Huntington and Waycross has really been busy, keeping me on the lookout for many new repaints. Click here for the details of the update.

10/10/08 - Not so long of a wait between updates this time, and a major milestone reached. We're now over 10,000 images on the site. Thank you everyone! With so many units being added to the roster, along with plenty of repaints, the new adds are coming frequently. Click here for the details of the update.

7/18/08 - Where does the time go? Thanks again to Trainweb for providing the evergrowing space required to host these pics. This update took me so long I already have a bunch of pics to start on the next one. Thanks for your patience. Click here for the list of pics added and contributors.

10/25/07 - Here we are again with a long overdue update. Here's the latest. Click here for the list of pics added and contributors.

03/15/07 - I can't beleive how time flies in between these updates. Here's the latest, coming 4 1/2 months after the last one. Click here for the list of pics added and contributors.

10/31/06 - Time for a quick update for a change. Knocked off the last SW1001 needed with this update so we can scratch that one off of the ten most wanted list. Also included are the first two of the "new" B40-8s picked up after NS let their leases go. There are still 16 more running around. Click here for the list of pics added and contributors.

9/26/06 - This is the longest stretch in between updates ever I beleive. Thanks for waiting. Lots and lots of new GEVOs here, plus some renumbered SD50-2s and a whole bunch more. Click here for the list of pics added and contributors.

2/28/06 - Looks like it's been awhile since the last update, so time for a new one. This update just about finishes off the GEVOs, at least the 5200 series as the next order is just about ready to start being delivered. Thanks again to each of you for sending your pics! Please make sure to send your own pics though, as I try to make sure I have permission to use each and every photo. If you send me someone else's photos, I need to know who's pic it is so I may try to obtain their permission. That being said, enjoy the pics. Click here for the list of pics added and contributors.

10/31/05 - I thought I'd try to catch everyone offguard and actually post an extra update this time! So many of the GEVO pics are coming in I wanted to get them up. Thanks again to each of you for your contributions. Pleas keep the victems of each of the recent hurricanes in your prayers. Click here for the list of pics added and contributors.

9/16/05 - I think I'm a little bit early on this one, at least by how I've done in the recent past, but here is the latest update. It's nice to see those fresh ES44DC unit pics coming in, and a special thanks to John Jones for providing a pic of the last U30B I needed, 5320. It's always nice to come up with a unit I need, but those old long gone units are a treat to add to the site. Thanks again to each of you for your contributions. Pleas keep the victems of Hurricane Katrina in your prayers. Click here for the list of pics added and contributors.

7/6/05 - Happy 4th of July everyone. Another big update with all types of goodies. Something for everyone. Thanks again to each of you for your contributions. Enjoy! Click here for the list of pics added and contributors.

3/16/05 - Another update, and another big one. Lots of variety, and the new SD70AC's are almost complete already. Thanks again to each of you for your contributions. Enjoy! Click here for the list of pics added and contributors.

11/19/04 - The long awaited update is done, and it was a big one. Lots of SD70AC's added, along with the SD70ACe's, which for now I'm leaving on the same page as the regular SD70ACs. Thanks to all who have contributed, and again to all who have asked "When's the next update?" Click here for the list of pics added and contributors.

7/19/04 - I missed my quarterly update target of June 30 by three weeks, but here it is anyway. We now have all the CW44AC units accounted for, so we can turn our attention to the remaining SD70AC units coming online. Thanks to all who have contributed, and all who have asked "When's the next update?" Hopefully you'll like them, but either way, click here for the list of pics added and contributors.

3/4/04 - Here's the first update of the new year, and it's a big one. Hopefully you'll think it was worth the wait! Special thanks to Ken Bauer who single-handedly has sent nearly the entire fleet of new SD70AC units. Thanks to all the other contributors as well, as every photo counts! As for the update, around 150 pics were added. Click here for the list of pics added and contributors.

11/14/03 - Time for another long awaited update. Thanks to all the photographers and contributors who keep the site expanding. Thanks also to you the visitors as we've surpassed the 200,000 hit mark. Around 80 pics were added including some good repaints and the last two SD40-2s needed. Click here for the list of pics added and contributors. The new SD70 units 4701-4775 should be coming out any day now, so lets go get them!

7/18/03 - Hello again! Maybe a quarterly update schedule will work better than the every other month theory I've been trying to do. Anyway, I've been very busy with the birth of our third child Abigail Rose, born on 3/27/03. She was 5 weeks premature and weighed only 5 pounds and one oz., but everyone is doing well. Now for the update. Nearly 90 pics were added, including some of the remote control pusher converted locos. I was happy to get an old SD35 off of my top 10 most wanted list too. Click here for the full list of additions and contributors. Thanks to all who contributed this time, but also thanks to those who e-mailed me asking if everything was ok since it was a while between updates. It's nice to know that someone is "out there". Thank you Ken Bauer, Ron Bearden, E.M.Bell, Thomas Duke, Ed Durnwald, Jerry Farley, Kermit Geary, Raymond Hamm, Tim Huemmer, Pat Huemmer, Dave Hyman, Stan Jackowski, Lee King, Erik Landrum, John Lastfogel, Jeff Lubchansky, Mike Marra, Steve Michaels, David Miller, Tony Moses, Ed Mullan, Mike Nichols, Rob Palmer, Thomas Parker, Putzieman, Mike Rapchak Jr., John Regan, Wes Reminder, Ken Roble, S.M.Stainbach, Bob Topping, John Troxler, Ellis Veech, Tim West, Lyndsay Whitt, William Wilson, Mike Woodruff & Craig Zeni for allowing me to use your pics this update.

12/16/02 - It's been three months since my last update, but here goes. Click here for the detailed listing. Sorry for the longer than usual wait, but thanks for your patience, and keep those pics coming in!

9/17/02 - It's always nice to knock units off my 10 most wanted list, but it's especially nice removing number one from the list. Included in this update is a shot of MT-4 1004 which had been number one on my list for quite some time. Thanks to Fred Ochs and Mark Menges for catching up with that unit. Thanks also to Ted Alexander, Kevin Andrusia, Travis Collins, Andrew Cummings, Tim Darnell, T.J.Mahan, MIke DiMunno, Donna(abpr), Mitch Friscia, Kennedy How, Tim Huemmer, Stan Jackowski, Bill Karrow, James Lilly, Tom Luckey, Steve Michaels, E.Sauer, Tony, J.Tunnel, Steve Roberts, S.M. Stainback, Ellis Veech, Bruce Warren, Jim Wisman & Craig Zeni for all of their contributions. The complete update list for this update may be found here.

7/25/02 - Don't look now, but with this update we now have shots of 45 units in new paint! Considering I've only seen 5 or 6 myself, I have to give thanks to all of you for sending those pics in. Keep them coming too! I'm also happy to report that shots of the last two remaining SD50s have been rounded up, so that model is now complete. Thanks for the contributions folks, including John Acton, John Almeida, Steve Barker, Michael Broadwater, Bruce Friedman, Bill Grooms, Tim Darnell, DRF, Michael Huchko, Stan Jackowski, Bill Karrow, Steve Koenig, J.E. Landrum, Dick Leonhardt, Ken, Tom Luckey, Greg Marck, Steve Michaels, Arnold Morscher, Rob Palmer, Travis Payne, John Regan, Jeffrey Sessu, S.M. Stainback, Adam Sullivan, Bob Topping, Bryan Turner, Ellis Veech, R. Vichtner Jr., Kevin Wood, Craig Zeni & James Zuckerman Check out who sent what here.

5/15/02 - Time for more additions. There are lots of YN3 repaints showing up, so it's about time I added some pics of them. With this update, two more models (C36-7 and SWMT) are now 100% complete. Three of the twelve newly renumbered ex-LMS CW40-8 units are included here, so that leaves 9 to get. Thanks to the usual cast of characters this time around, including Ray Cole, Bruce Friedman, Peter Furnee, Tim Darnell, Stan Jackowski, J.E. Landrum, Jeff Lubchansky, Tom Luckey, Steve Michaels, Rob Palmer, Vernon Ryder Jr., Chris Starnes, Robby Vaughn & Ellis Veech, as well as first time contributors Charlie O'Hay, Nathan Holmes, Ian Learmonth & Gil Pollard. Check out who sent what here.

4/2/02 - Another update is complete, and two of my favorite models are now 100% complete. GP15-1 1535 came off the 10 most wanted list and that model is complete, along with the Florida based SD70Ms. More YN3, GN, Dark Future, (insert your nickname here) repaints are showing up almost daily. Thanks to my friends Stan Jackowski, J.E. Landrum, & Rob Palmer for tracking down some shots of the new look units, I have yet to see one myself, so I appreciate the pics that much more. 78 shots were added, and you can get the details here. In addition to the folks I mentioned, thanks also to Keith Berkebile, Randy Broadwater, Brent Christy, Mike Fair, Bruce Friedman, Rick Glosser, Harold Hodnett, Tom Humphreys, Jeff Lubchansky, Pete Milelli, Tony Moses, Emmanuel Neiconi, Aaron Ohern, Dennis McCurry, Vernon Ryder Jr., Bill Sechler, Trainjunkie.com, Ellis Veech, and Craig Zeni for their contributions. New CW44ACs and more repaints are on their way, so keep your cameras ready!

2/18/02 - The big news of course is the new CSX paint scheme unveiled on 2/8/02. This new C&O inspired scheme may or may not be revised, so for now I'm going to hold off giving it a name. It sure has met with mixed reviews, but I for one like it. Is it a cost savings manuever - sure. Is it original - no. Yet somehow I still like it. I only wish they had kept the yellow slanted off the front nose. I'd also like to see a gold stripe at the top of the long hood to accent the frame stripe, but all in all I do like it. My special thanks to Stan Jackowski for the great shots of the 8503!

Oh by the way, the other news is that another update is done. Again, around 100 pics were added, and click here to view the list. Thanks to Kevin Angel, Ron Bearden, Emmett Bell, Dennis Clark, Joe Ferguson, Bruce Friedman, Harold Hodnett, Bryan Jones, Skip Kern, Dick Leonhardt, Steve Michaels, Rob Palmer, Dennis Paulson, Cliff Preston, Campbell Rice, Robert Vaugn, Ellis Veech, and Craig Zeni. There are now less than 200 units that have no picture on this site! Of course now there will be even more repaint opportunities with a new paint scheme running around.

1/8/02 - As a quick little update, I just added some new wreck photos to both of the wreck pages. I haven't updated those pages in awhile, so they were due. Included in the new pics is a sad shot of SD70AC 700 (better known as the Spirit of Cumberland), who still has not re-emerged from the shops as of this writing.

1/2/02 - Well, the update didn't make it in time for Santa, but at least it starts the new year off right! Around 90 pics were added, and click here to view the list. Thanks to Matt Adams, Paul Amos, Kevin Angel, Keith Berkebile, Ray Cole, Tim Darnell, Bruce Friedman, Peter Furnee, Bill Grooms, Harold Hodnett, Stan Jackowski, Tom Luckey, Bill Manzke, Blair Marston, Steve Michaels, Tony Moses, Emanuel Neiconi, Dave Olsen, Jeremy Plant, Chuck Rockwell, Matthew Saddler, Kevin Shea, Joseph Testagrose, trainjunkie.com, Ellis Veech, and Craig Zeni. Hopefully everyone had a nice holiday season and will use those new digital cameras they got from Santa to get some good CSX pics!

12/14/01 - Since it's been almost two months since the last update, I thought I'd leave a little note saying hang in there, the next one's coming soon. Hopefully it will arrive before Santa!

10/15/01 - With all the serious issues going on in the world right now, all of this seems so trivial. Hopefully this site can provide at least a little diversion for folks, myself included, but my thoughts and prayers are with this great nation, as well as our President and armed forces. I've added 81 pics, and you can check out the list here. Thanks to Paul Amos, Kevin Angel, Jason Breakiron, Warren Calloway, Rick Coble, Ray Cole, Jerry Doyle, John Durant, Bruce Friedman, Bill Grooms, Tom Humphries, Stan Jackowski, Tom Luckey, Steve Michaels, Ed Mullan, Rob Palmer, Matt Robertson, Vernon Ryder Jr., Ellis Veech, Nick Yager, and Craig Zeni. Great work as usual, and keep up the great work. May God continue to Bless America!

8/31/01 - What better way to kick off a holiday weekend than with an update. Just over 100 pics have been added, and you can read all about them here. Many great shots from the usual cast of characters, but I appreciate everyone's efforts. Thanks John Almeida, Kevin Angel, Brandon Barch, Keith Berkebile, Eric Clark, Ray Cole, Andrew Cummings, John Degnan, Kevin DeGroff, John Durant, Bruce Friedman, Jason Furtak, Bill Grooms, Carl Ignatz, Stan Jackowski, Hunter Johnson, Dick Leonhardt, Tom Luckey, Paul McGrane, Tony Moses, Rob Palmer, Kevin Shea, Ellis Veech, Dave Ware, and Craig Zeni. Have a great holiday & Go Eagles!!!

8/15/01 - A new look! I'm giving the whole site a facelift as time permits, so hopefully everyone will enjoy the change (albeit slight) of scenery. Also, for those of you who would like it, you can download a copy of my Microsoft Access 97 CSX Database. Right click to download it. It includes all CSX units from 1985 - present, unit heritages, paint schemes, and other goodies. The next photo update should be coming soon!

6/30/01 - We're long overdue for an update, so here goes. I can't believe it's half-way through 2001, CSX is adding new CW44ACs as I type this and now have over 500, but I have just added shots of GP16s, U30Bs, GP38s, and even a U25B! Also lots of current power of course, plus the normal mix of ex-conrail repaints. Click here to see the details and links. Special thanks to Ron Bearden for sending me the CD with so many great shots! Of course I do want to thank everyone who conributed, including Kevin Andrusia, Joseph Belote, Dave Check, Kevin DeGroff, Bruce Friedman, Harold Hodnett, Jeff Horstram, Stan Jackowski, Bryan Jones, Andrew Kasper, John Lastfogel, Dick Leonhardt, Tom Luckey, Paul McGrane, Emanuel Neiconi, Rob Palmer, Brian Plant, Matthew Saddler, Chris Starnes, Brian Switzer, Ellis Veech, Bruce Warren, and Craig Zeni. Thanks to all!

6/12/01 - White roof update - After much debate, I have decided NOT to count the white roof units as a new paint scheme. It seems that the units are not actually painted, but rather wrapped in some sort of a white tarp. I think that makes it more of an equipment modification than a new "paint" scheme. I'll put a listing up on the site as to which units get the white roofs, and maybe some special pics for the units I'll have both with and without the white tops, but again, no new paint scheme. I'll be adding several pics of white roofed units in the next update. That should only be a couple weeks away, as soon as things settle down for me a bit.

3/23/01 - Time for another update. I'm thrilled to finally add shots of MT-6 1017 and SD38 2463, both in CSX paint. I've had them at the top of my most wanted list for quite awhile now, and thanks to Don Coppola and Mitchell Yager, we all now have the shots. I say thanks to both because they both sent me shots within 2 days of one another! There's plenty of other thanks to go around too, as this was a large update. I added around 200 pics, and everyone should be able to find something of interest. Click here to see the latest adds. Thanks to all the conributors, who included Kevin Andrusia, Randy Broadwater, Steve Cain, Dave Check, Don Coppola, Chris Denbow, Chuck, Fallen Flags website, Bruce Friedman, Harold Hodnett, Stan Jackowski, Bryan Jones, Mike Kingston, Anthony Kunz, Dick Leonhardt, Paul McGrane, Rob Palmer, John Peterson, Tom Rockwell, Vernon Ryder Jr., Bob Topping, Ellis Veech, Nicholas Wilson, Mitchell Yager and Craig Zeni. Great work as usual guys!.

1/31/01 - Hopefully everyone had a very merry Christmas and a Happy first month of the new year. Here's our first update to the new year. It's not that large, but there are some great shots, including many older units gone long ago. We knocked off our last GP16 needed, our last pumpkin needed, and even a couple of old GP40s that I believe were retired before CSX officially started, but since they were in the proper number series, I'm counting them. Click here to see the goodies contributed this month. Special thanks to Harold Hodnett for those old pics! Also, more thanks to Steve Cain, Chris Denbow, Fallen Flags website, Bruce Friedman, Harold Hodnett, Jim Hunt, Stan Jackowski, Bryan Jones, Dick Leonhardt, Tom Luckey, Paul McGrane, Arnold Morscher, Brad Moyers, Emanuel Neiconi, Clayton Notgrass, Rob Palmer, Jay Ramsey, Corey Vernier, Nicholas Wilson, Ron Wilson, and Craig Zeni. Great work as usual guys!.

11/22/00 - Happy Thanksgiving!!!! I finished another update and added between 60 and 70 pics. Click here to see who the contributors were. Special thanks again to Stan Jackowski for a ton more Florida pics, greatly increasing our SD70M total. Also, more thanks to David Beckerman, Rob Carter, Brian Clark, Eric Clark, Ray Cole, Fallen Flags website, Stan Jackowski, Jeff Horstman, Bryan Jones, Tom Luckey, Greg Mazzio, Kyle McKerrow, Clayton Notgrass, Rob Palmer, Railnuts website, Matthew Saddler, and Matt Sell. .

11/1/00 - Maybe it has to do with Halloween, but there seems to be a rash of new "Spirit" locos running around on CSX. Many sightings are unconfirmed, and any photos would be greatly appreciated to substantiate these rumors! The 789 is confirmed as the Spirit of Nashville. Still unconfirmed are the Spirit of Clinchfield (295), the Spirit of Dante (391), and the Spirit of Magnolia (454). I've added a new page to the site just for the dedicated "Spirit of" units. Lets go get these new ones now!

10/3/00 - September's update is now finished. Well over 100 pics were added. Click here to see who sent what. Special thanks to Stan Jackowski for bagging all 3 of the new GP60s down in Florida, including 6899 which is currently being rebuilt after some wreck damage. Also, many thanks to Matt Adams, Paul Amos, Kevin Andrusia, Kevin Angel, John Berger, Warren Calloway, Rob Carter, Ray Cole, Geno Dailey, John Durant, Fallen Flags website, Brian Gessel, Stan Jackowski, Dick Leonhardt, Dan Leotta, Tom Luckey, Dave Miller, Clayton Notgrass, Rob Palmer, John Peterson, Mike Ray, John Regan, Dan Risdon, Mike Woodruff, and Craig Zeni. . The "Unusual" and the "Wrecks" pages all have been updated with new pics, and hopefully they will all load faster now.

9/5/00 - We've reached a milestone here at the site as the CSX Photo Archives has now been online more than one year. I hope to continue to have the wonderful contributions coming in, and I will upload them as regularly as possible. I'll also be giving the site some face-lifts here and there to try to help pages load more quickly. This is needed especially on the pages where I used thumbnails, but help is on the way. Thanks to all of you who have made this such a great year for this site. Over 27,000 hits was more than I ever thought possible!

8/24/00 - The largest update yet is now finished. It was so big that I had to split it into 2 separate viewing files to see what was added. Click here to see which units between numbers 1-1999 were added, and you can click here to see the units numbered 2000-9999 that were added. Lots of changes to the 10 most wanted list, and I'm happy to say many of the traded in units no longer around were knocked off in this update. My thanks this time go to John Anderson, Paul Boggs, Randy Broadwater, Steve Cain, Kevin DeGroff, Chris Denbow, Bruce Friedman, Josh Groeneveld, Jeff Horstman, Bryan Jones, Les Keegan, Dave Larrabe, Dick Leonhardt, Jeff Lubchansky, Tom Luckey, Clayton Notgrass, Rob Palmer, John Regan, Larry Smoak, Bob Topping, VRJ, Bill Waller, Bohdan Yaremko, and Craig Zeni. You guys sent in some great stuff as usual!

8/16/00 - I'm back after a short break centered upon the birth of my daughter Amanda on 7/27/00. You can look for the next update to be complete in the next couple days, and lots of good shots are being added. Thanks for your patience in waiting for the updates, and hopefully it will have been worth the wait!

6/21/00 - I just finished a big update, and once again, all of the shots are contributed photos. Click here to see what I added and who sent them. A round of applause to my regular contributors whe continue to send in shots of units needed, as well as some shots improving the quality of units already posted. Contributors this time include Paul Amos, Steve Cain, Ray Cole, Kevin DeGroff, Chris Denbow, Bruce Friedman, Brent Holt, Bryan Jones, Jeff Lubchansky, Rob Palmer, Patrick Phelan, John Regan, Wes Reminder, Brian Woodruff, and Craig Zeni. All 3 "Diversity" units are accounted for, which is especially nice considering I have yet to see one in person. If anyone is going to the Chessie Historical Society convention this week in Cumberland, have a good time!!!

6/12/00 - Hang in there gang, another CSX update is right around the corner. Thanks to all of you who are sending photos in. It's thanks to you that this site keeps growing! Now that my Chessie Photo Archive site is up and running, I can turn my attention back to updating this site. Hopefully someone got shots of all the older units being traded in! Look for the next update soon, and in the mean time, take a "Peake" at my new Chessie Photo Archives site and let me know what you think.

5/8/00 - The most recent update is now finished. All of the shots are contributed photos as I haven't been able to get out and take my own shots recently. Click here to see what I added and who sent them. As always, my thanks to those who made the effort to share their pics. This time they include Paul Amos, Keith Berkebile, Ray Cole, Chris Denbow, Bruce Friedman, Anthony Hardy, Jeff Horstman, Stan Jackowski, Jim Johnston, Bryan Jones, Dick Leonhardt, Daniel Leotta, Jeff Lubchansky, David Miller, Clayton Notgrass, Rob Palmer, Patrick Phelan, David Pirmann, John Regan, Wes Reminder, and Craig Zeni. A good mix of some new contributors as well as many from the regulars. Thanks to my friend Rob Palmer for the great shot of the 699 in the "Diversity" logo. That still leaves the 5000 and 5001 to get!

5/4/00 - Look for the next update to be complete in the next day or two, and lots of good shots are being added. I'm not adding any more Vintage Chessie pics to this site, however I am working on my Chessie Photo Archive site as time permits. Once it's done I'll remove the Vintage Chessie pics from this site, as you'll be able to view them and tons of others at the Chessie Photo Archives site.

3/28/00 - Another big update is finished, this time with over 215 pics added. Again many contributors helped out, and quite a few first timers as well. Click here to see which specific shots were added, and who sent them. Thanks this time go to all who contributed, including John Anderson, Brian Bland, Ray Cole, Geno Dailey, Kevin DeGroff, Bruce Friedman, Lloyd Hodges, Jim Johnston, JE Landrum, Gregg Lawrie, Dick Leonhardt, Daniel Leotta, Arnold Morscher, Clayton Notgrass, Rob Palmer, Patrick Phelan, Wes Reminder, Ed Stewart, Bobby Topping, and Craig Zeni. I hope I didn't leave anyone out! Thanks to my friend Bruce Friedman for sending the first shot of a 5000 series CW60AC. Now lets get the three in the special "Diversity" logo (699,5000,5001).

3/13/00 - I just finished adding some more vintage chessie pics to the site. I added GP39s and SD20-2s, and also the SW900s to get some switchers up. I am receiving lots of good CSX pics to add for the next update, so look for that in the next week or two. Keep your eyes out for the new CW60AC units which are now extending into the 5000 series. Of special note is the word that 699, 5000, & 5001 have been spotted at Erie with special "Diversity in Motion" lettering. Lets get those on the site as soon as we can!

2/20/00 - The update's done, and many good pics were added. Many contributors helped out, and I was even able to add some pics of my own for a change. Click here to see which specific shots were added, and who sent them. Thanks to all who contributed this go round, including John Almeida, John Anderson, Brandon Barch, Ray Cole, Bill Davis, Dale Devene, Tom Fassett, Stan Feldman, Bruce Friedman, Brian Gessel, Stan Jackowski, Daniel Leotta, Jeff Lubchansky, Thomas Luckey, Steve McMullen, Glen Miley, Fred Ochs, Steve Okonski, Rob Palmer, Mike Ray, John Regan, Greg Stevens, Tom, Wes Reminder, Richard Vichtner Jr., and Craig Zeni. I hope I didn't leave anyone out! These lists are growing longer, but of course that's a good thing. Thanks Stan J. for our first shot of an ex-cr MT-4, and Thomas Luckey who sent a video of it! Also kudos to Brian G. for the long sought after shot of sbd H-15 1001.

2/18/00 - Lots of stuff going on here! The next CSX photo update will be done in just a couple days, so you can look for it Monday or Tuesday. Another 160 or so pics. After that there will be more Chessie pics added as those are starting to mount. I went in tonight and added a couple wreck photos that folks have sent in, to my wrecks page 2, including a pic from the engineer who was riding in the unit when it rolled! How's that for a first hand account!

2/1/00 - I'm happy to announce a new feature here at the CSX Photo Archives. I've dusted off my old Chessie photo albums and have begun the time consuming process of scanning them. The idea is to eventually have a "Chessie Photo Archives" site, but for now I am adding some of the Chessie units here to this site under the menu option of "Vintage Chessie". So far I've added GP35, GP38, SD35, SD40, and U30B pages, and happily every unit of these models is covered. More models will follow, but I thought I would put some up now. The next CSX update should be soon, so keep those pics coming!

1/14/00 - The first update of the new year is complete, and it's a big one. 219 pics were added, which is the biggest update to date. Click here to see which specific shots were added, and who sent them. I'm happy to say I've added the 3 remaining C32-8s I needed, since they are now retired. We're still in need of some now retired C30-7As, but hopefully someone has the the missing ones! Contributors deserving thanks this update include John Anderson, Ray Cole, Dale Devene, Bruce Friedman, Brent Holt, Jim Hunt, Bryan Jones, Cameron Lashley, Daniel Leotta, Jeff Lubchansky, Dennis McCurry, Steve McMullen, Brian Minnich, Shawn Noe, Rob Palmer, Patrick Phelan, Tom, Troy, Wes Reminder, Richard Vichtner Jr., Dave Ware, and Craig Zeni. Thanks Dale for knocking off my number 1 most wanted (8313)! A new number 1 is up!

1/3/00 - Happy New Year everyone! I updated the roster pages today with some recent repaints and some retirements. Sadly, the retirements include many ex-conrail B23-7 units, most of which I still need pics of, so if anyone has some, send them in. I'll try to have my first photo update of year 2000 ready in the next couple days. I've got over 160 pics to add, so this update will be a big one.

12/14/99 - Finally the update is finished! I had a little thing called work that kept interfering. Well over 100 pics were added, and as usual, you can click here to see which specific shots were added, and who sent them. Hopefully this update method works well for everyone. I figured that this way you don't have to surf the whole site to find the new ones. It also lets me give credit for each individual photo sent in. Speaking of which, contributors deserving thanks this update include John Anderson, Ray Cole, Bill Davis, Bruce Friedman, Brent Holt, Daniel Leotta, Dennis McCurry, Rob Palmer, Patrick Phelan, Mike Ray, Wes Reminder, Ken Wirsing, and Craig Zeni. Thanks guys for another job well done!

11/29/99 - Hopefully everyone had a great Thanksgiving and holiday weekend! I'm almost ready for another update as new pics have been rolling in at a good clip. There are nearly 100 to add already, including some great shots of old retired units. Look for the next update in the next week or two.

11/19/99 - Thank you to Dale Devene for knocking off my #1 most wanted unit off of the 10 most wanted list, SW1500 1121 (a Ken Ardinger pic). I had been searching for a shot of that unit for years. A new number one is up, and some other changes were also made.

I've updated the site again, and with all contributed shots. It's nice to see new pics even when I'm not the one taking them. I think there were around 75 pics added. You can click here to see which specific shots were added, and who sent them. Contributors deserving recognition this update include Matt Adams, Paul Amos, John Anderson, John Degnen, Dale Devene, Bruce Friedman, John of John's Seaboard Era Lines, Bryan Jones, Cameron Lashley, Jon Overfield, Rob Palmer, Mike Ray, Matthew Saddler, and Craig Zeni. Some good ex conrail repaints are showing up including GP15-1s 1525, 1556, & 1562, GP38-2 2777, and B36-7 5794, so keep your eyes open for them!

11/02/99 - Another update is complete and this one was a big one, with well over a hundred photos being added. You can click here to see which specific shots were added. This site now has 6,079 images of CSX units, covering 4,650 different units including 149 ex conrail units. Not too shabby, but thanks needs to go out to all of you for your help. Contributors deserving recognition this update include Paul Amos, John Anderson, Ray Cole, Brian Dirnbauer, Tony Fabro, Bruce Friedman, Bryan Jones, Cameron Lashley, Steve Michaels, Matthew Saddler, and Bobby Warf. The 10 most wanted list changes again, as 6611 in CSX-bc paint comes off! Lots of good stuff is still running around for us to get though.

10/28/99 - My wife and I have returned from sunny Florida and I'm now getting set for another update. This one will push us way past 6,000 photos, and there will be some real good units in this batch. Keep sending those contributed photos in! On the repaint watch, the first GP15-1 has appeared in CSX paint, the 1562. Also, many of the 2200 series RDMTs are being repainted, so don't forget if a unit gets new paint, we need a new photo!

10/20/99 - The Cumberland Railfest has come and gone, and I hope many of you were able to enjoy the spectacular fall scenery in that region. It is truly breath taking! My wife and I are flying down to Florida tomorrow for some R&R (no trains), but when I return next week I'll get to work on the next update. Hopefully while I'm gone you can all load my inbox with pictures! We'll be well over the 6,000 photo mark after the next update which is a nice milestone, but there are still plenty of units out there still needed.

10/14/99 - The latest update is now complete. There were 60 or so additions, I can't remember exactly. You can click here to see for yourself what the new adds were. Again, this update was entirely made up of contributed images, plus a few I stumbled onto on the net. I got to scratch off 417, 418, and 9699 from the 10 most wanted list! The site now has 5,983 CSX loco photos, so next update we'll surpass the 6,000 mark. I have about a dozen more shots still in my camera, plus a few more were e-mailed to me yesterday that just missed this update. Thanks this time need to go to John Anderson, Brent Holt, Dennis McCurry, Ian Mitchell, Rob Palmer, John Peterson, Roger Ruchti, Bobby Warf, and Mike Woodruff for their contributions to the site. Again, keep up the good work guys and thanks for your efforts!

10/11/99 - Another update is on the way, and hopefully will be done in the next day or two. This will be another update of contributed shots, as it looks like the roll in my camera will have to wait to be finished in Cumberland this weekend for their railfest. I hope many of you can get there as I sure will be. With this update we'll be closing in on the 6,000 picture mark!

9/29/99 - Another update is now complete. I think 63 was the number I added, but if you want to see the unit by unit list, click here. This update was entirely made up of contributed images. A couple more units fell from the 10 most wanted list, and I even had to chose which image to use as several shots of a couple units were contributed. For this update, my thanks to Alex, Kevin Andrusia, Ray Cole, Osman Dadi, Brian Dirnbauer, Denny Fisher, Peter Furnee (& TOTALCSX for the 801 shot),Joey Gonciarz, Stan Jackowski, Bryan Jones, Rob Palmer, Patrick Phelan, Wes Reminder, and Mike Woodruff for their contributions to the site. Keep up the good work guys!

9/27/99 - I've got over 50 new photos to add to the site, so I think it's time for another update. I'll try to have it done this week. Thanks to the many contributors, this site continues to grow, and I get to revise my 10 most wanted list again! I'm really glad people are getting to the site and enjoying it. Keep the contributions coming, and lets get some of those new units coming on line!

9/13/99 - My first update is complete. I already have many new photos to add, but I'll wait until a few more come in for the next update. As far as this update goes, my thanks to Bryan Jones, Kris Hazen, Ray Cole, Mike Ray, and Brent Holt for their contributions to the site. Click here for a full list of what photos were added this update. The 6776 and the 8245 can now come off of the 10 most wanted list!

9/7/99 - Thanks to everyone for getting the word out about this site! I've got over 100 new photos to add to the site, which are made up of about a 50/50 split between your contributions, plus some more of my own shots. I took a day trip to Selkirk, NY over the holiday weekend, and I was able to get a good number of shots of Conrail renumbered units. I hope to have all of the new adds up by the weekend.

8/30/99 - I feel now's the time to spread the word that this site is up. I've got some photos I'll be adding soon. I just added a guestbook as well, under the feedback menu option. Like the rest of this site, I've never done that before, so hopefully it will workout ok.

8/25/99 - I recently discovered the joys of 2 browsers that don't play well together. What looked fine in IE looked terrible in Netscape and vice-versa! This sent me back to the drawing board for some modifications to the basic page construction so everything would look ok no matter what browser is used. What a pain. Anyway, I think we're just a couple days away from going public with this thing.

8/16/99 - I think I only have a few more pages to build and this site will be ready. I don't know what I'm going to do on the roster section, as Microsoft Access spits out my Active roster in an HTML format that's over 3 MB, so I'll need to go to plan "B" on rosters as soon as I come up with one.

8/1/99 - Finally, some pages are starting to come together. My menu applet seems to be working, although I still don't know how or why. Things continue to come together.

7/23/99 - What's new? How about this entire sight. After months of preparation, including the scanning of over 5,700 photos, I'm finally feeling that I'm getting somewhere. Of course there's still the small matter of trying to teach myself this HTML stuff..
