The Denton Area Model Railroad Club Information Page
Our club is part of the North Texas Council of Railroad Clubs which hosts train shows in Plano and Fort Worth every year.
The Denton Area Model Railroad Club was founded in 1986 by a group of people who wished to exhibit a modular HO scale layout at a Dallas area train show. The club simultaneously came into exist and became a member of the North Texas Council of Railroad Clubs, known also as the Metroplex Council.
The club is legally incorporated as a not-for profit corporation.
Today there are 39 active members who get together periodically to share knowledge and experiences, all having a common interest in model railroading.
Our club now has a HO modular layout and a N modular layout. Both layouts are set up at all Metroplex Council shows, usually held in November and January. Other setups have been by invitation for special events, such as Christmas exhibits at the Denton County courthouse or the Denton Center for Visual Arts and last year we were invited to set up at the North Texas State Fair in Denton. In addition, events are held from time to time in our homes on our private layouts.
Regular meetings consist of a business session followed by a program, such as a video or a presentation by a member or a guest.
