Shafter Depot Museum

Evan Werkema gives a general description of the museum:

"Back in the late 1970's, the community bought their two-story Santa Fe depot, moved it a short distance up the track, restored it to its original appearance, and built a museum in and around it.  Unfortunately, the museum is only open the first Saturday of each month.  The track you see in the background is the Santa Fe (BNSF) mainline from Bakersfield to Fresno and Richmond."

The wigwag pictured here is a Magnetic Signal Co "Peach Basket".
Notice how the word "stop" replaces the lower vertical stripe. The signal's
origins are unknown, howerever, Union Pacific seemed to be the largest
user of peach basket wigwags.
