EXTRAS:
We were short on operators but were able to fill gaps.

  • Crested Butte was out of action.
  • A couple broke switch points in Salida.
  • A few missed OS's.
  • New position: West staging NG operator - Montrose - Gunnison. This included Ciarron switching as well as Baldwin Branch.
  • SG Yard operator doubled up and ran some trains to keep up some traffic.
  • Dispatcher had to go to back-up radio, primary radio went bad.

    EXTRAS:
    This was the most operators we have ever had (12) and we were short 1 throttle.

  • Crested Butte had significant shorting issues.
  • Loco #346 for Pitkin Local Train #324 was Out of Service (dirty).
  • Loco #342 for Crested Butte Local Train #328 was Out of Service (dirty).
  • Loco #360 & back-up Loco #375 for Shavanno Train #315 both Out of Service (dirty).
  • Operators continue difficulty with hand radio operation.
  • Recommend head-sets for Dispatcher & Salida Yardmaster.
  • Sign-up sheet by first responders allowed new job rotation, but need to improve format by mirroring manifest sheets.
  • Need to clear layout of non-operating equipment and RIP tracks.
  • Train Orders for Big Mine Turn incorrect - still in draft form.
  • Hard to keep interest during Ops Briefing despite updates, maybe add Test!
  • Missing Dispatcher Panel magnet for Train #398.
  • Missing train orders for Train #326 in Return Bin.
  • The Club has 10 working throttles available, 1 more to return to Digitrax for service. GaryM provided 1 additional throttle for Ops, for a total of 11.
  • Dispatcher had to go to back-up radio, primary radio went bad.

    EXTRAS:
    Many Lessons Learned after a 5 month hiatus during a heavy construction period for the Shed.

  • Needed better cleaning on SG tracks and all Locomotives.
  • F3 #5524 and 2-8-8-2 #3502 taken out of service due to probable dirty wheels.
  • BLI Zephyr cars on Staging Reverse Loop caused unrecoverable short from Reverse Unit.
  • Trains 351/352 should be designated as STOCK Car Handling Only.
  • Salida NG Yard Hostler much improved NG Trains out of Salida by transferring hostling from Operator.
  • Having Jeff & Keet as extra crewmen proved invaluable -allowing us to run theMonarch Turn.
  • A couple more operators would really help, we had a shortage of SG trains.
  • 5 radios previously left on resulted with almost no radio communications, possibly 1-2 radios inoperable, recommend purchase of additional handsets.
  • RIP Tracks: D&RGW Flat #6012 trouble staying railed.
  • Portland siding switch not closing all the way.
  • Track #2 Panel light under Cleora (near Red Hill) Green LED dim or out.
  • Assigned duties and two dedicated Yard men in Salida vastly improved trains in & out of Salida.
  • Check gauge on switch on west end of Parkdale siding - derailments on siding.
  • Need maintenance and gauge check on locomtive to Wayfreight on Staging Track #5.
  • Dispatcher hollering was maybe not as bad as it could have been this time.
