The railway pages of Patrick Dunford

This bridge alongside the main road near Cavendish is one of two crossings made of the railway over the Rangitata Diversion Race. As the race was built in the 1930s both bridges show relatively modern design with concrete abutments and piers. Slight detail differences exist between the two bridges. Not far from here both the rail and race crossed the Ashburton River, rail by a conventional bridge and the race via a syphon. December 1985.
