Asmara Shop Exterior and Yards
In Legends in Steam, Colin Garret featured the loco-shop as his opening picture in the article on the Eritrean Railway:

In the more recent Classic Steam Trains: steam survivors around the world, Colin Garret presents a good overall view of the engine house:

The detail above shows the letters 'D.' and 'L.' above the respective doors.  Since the D was on the left, this could't have meant 'right'.  I wrote Renato and asked.  As usual, he provided me with the obvious, 'D.L.'" means "Deposito Locomotive" which is Italian for Engine House.

The author described the engine house as sooty in the 1969 Trains magazine artice.

The above picture from Asmara Style reflects the station area in the 1920s...judging from the lady's clothing.  I thought the awning on the locomototive was interesting touch.

This view shows the turntable and some of the tracks and a turnout at the Asmara yards.  This was taken on my November 1961 trip.
