Kagnew Station

Rick Fortney hosts the Kagnew Station Website.  He had posted this mapof Tract E.  North is approximately to the right on this map.  The Railway is shown coming in from the east and curving to follow the wall.

The Oasis Club (above)  is due east of where the railway comes throught the back wall. The gate should be straight ahead in this picture, but I cannot see it.  The Oasis Club was the enlisted men's club when I was there.  To the left of the viewer (off camera) is the miniature golf course.

The wall traveling approximately across the middle of the above picture hides the railway tracks.  To those unframiliar with Kagnew Station, This picture is taken approximately southeast from Operations Company in 1961.  The yellow building showing is the training building.  The grey building is the back of the bowling alley.  The bus is wating take a shift out to Tract C...probably for the day shift judging from the shadows.

Over behind the Oasis Club, there was a warehouse.  Robert Young sent me the tale of his adventure there one time.

At one time when I was over there, I was prisoner  chaser, and had four guys doing time in the Guard House that I had to take out daily for work details.  I remember that I hated it, but what I do remember is one time they had to unload cement bags, (from Israel) from the boxcars that came in on the spur behind the Oasis Club.  We were there when they pulled the boxccars in, seems like I had to unlock the gate for them, and remember the dinky that pushed the cars in.  I remember that because
they were always trying to get me to take them there for a break and a beer.  If anyone had gone to the club for a beer, it would have been me.  I just stood there, but got covered with cement dust just as much as they did.
