10.05.2005: The Empire Builder was early into Pasco, Washington, but arrived nearly 4 hours late into the next stop, Wishram. Cause: Broken rail, required inspection and quick repair.

10.06.2005: The Empire Builder was about a hour late into Pasco... 4 hours late into Wishram... The train missed the work window west of Pasco, and had to wait until it opened. Amtrak decided to bus the passengers connecting to the Coast Starlight -- Well whad'ya know, the Empire Builder passed that bus somewhere along Highway 14 and got to PDX way in advanced. The Coast Starlight had to wait for the bus to arrive.

10.13.2005: Yesterday the 116 conked out, so they took the 120 off the southbound Starlight at San Luis Obispo, leaving 114 alone to do the task of hauling the #11 the rest of the way to LAX. Now that trainset with the 120 on it is turning at Klamath Falls due to derailment at Pryor (just out of Oakridge), the southbound will be turning at Portland with bus bridge between PDX and KFS.

10.18.2005: UP shut down the line between Oakland and San Jose, passengers will be bussed in between, and trains will be turned around. This will cause some delays and we'll see an unusual rotation of locomotives instead of the usual every 4-day intervals. Also, the Starlight thru PDX on Sunday was severely delayed due to a number of problems, including a truck damaging the viaduct in Oregon City.
