Call to Artists!

Do you dabble in oils? Work with washes?

Fancy yourself a photographer?

The Auburn Arts Commission is sponsoring a juried competition as part of the Mountain Quarries Railroad Bridge centennial celebration. The bridge (which is also known as the “No Hands Bridge”) is located just downstream from the Highway 49 crossing of the Middle Fork of the American River. It was one of the longest concrete arch railroad bridges in the world when it was completed in 1912.

Artists may submit two-dimensional artwork that features the bridge, including paintings, drawings, pastels, digital/photography, and mixed media.

The show will hang at the Auburn City Hall Gallery from March 19 – June 6, 2012 with an artists’ reception on Friday, March 23rd from 5:00 – 7:00pm.

Entry fee: $15.00 for two entries. Cash prizes will be awarded.

To enter: Hand-deliver artwork to the Rose Room in Auburn City Hall, which is located at 1225 Lincoln Way, Auburn, CA 95603, on Saturday, March 17th, from 10:00am to 2:00pm.

Unaccepted artwork: Artists will be notified by telephone and must arrange for artwork to be picked up on Sunday, March 18th, from 10:00am to 2:00pm.

Note: All artwork must be framed and properly wired for hanging. Please label all art with artist’s name, address, phone number and email address, title of work, media and price on the back. All sales are to be directly between the artist and buyer. The City Hall Gallery will not charge a commission.
