The Fordsville L&N Depot Community Museum is filled with treasures from the past and present. Walking into the museum the visitor is almost transformed into an eager traveler awaiting his or her train. While you wait for the distant conductors whistle enjoy your time reminiscing through the history that makes our community so special. Filled with memorabilia of both the L&N and IC Railways and other unique collections of rural lifestyle necessities you are sure to leave having learned something new every time you visit!

Inside what was once referred to as the "White" Waiting Room you will now find our main collection of railroad memorabilia, a tribute to the armed services and a collection of works by local authors.

Inside what was once referred to ask the "Black" Waiting Room you can stroll through the history of the public education, community fairs and festivals, and a tribute to our City government and businesses.

The Fordsville Historical Society takes great pride in preserving the history of our community and assisting others with finding history of their very own.

Walking into the old Depot Baggage Room visitors are encouraged to just stop and look around. Filled with displays of furniture, tools and daily necessities from times past. Also serves at a meeting room.

Lights
of the
Past


Step outside the Museum and relax in the "Lights of the Past" Memorial Sitting Area. This community project adds beauty to the grounds and gives a quiet reflection area for citizens and visitors alike.

Classroom


The Outdoor Stage and Classroom Area is the one of the newest projects taken on by the Historical Society and promises to be a success offering an outdoor area for community and school events.

The beautiful Bell Tower Gazebo located on the Museum grounds once set atop the Fordsville Baptist Church. It now services as a wonderful place to stop and relax while visiting with us.
