Train Dispatcher 2/3

By Funnelfan

Note: I've started major refurbishment of my routes in November of 2003. Now that I have better and more specific info, each of the revamped territories will be far more realistic.

I know that the are quite a few of you out there who are virtually addicted to Signal Computer Consultant's Train Dispatcher game.  You'll be happy to know that I have a couple of territories to offer along with dozens of icons of locomotives, cars, and cabooses. Far too many to mention here, you'll just have to download the whole set. The territories are built to be played on version 2 of the game, but playing them on version 3 is so much easier and more enjoyable, although the routes can't take advantage of all the version 3 features.

All files are now in a .zip format

The Funnel (Boyer West) ver.2

NOW UPDATED to 2003! The first territory is probably the one you'd think Funnelfan would be all over, yep that's right, BNSF's Funnel. The territory is expanded as bit beyond both ends of the Funnel to duplicate the entire Boyer West Dispatching territory (Boyer West is the one who Dispatches the Funnel at BNSF). This territory is neither compacted or overly congested, but is tons of fun to play. The variety of routes will make this territory one you can play over and over and try new ways to get out of tight situations each time. UP trains run over the BNSF from Napa St. Jct to UP Jct. but then there is that straggler coal train that operates over the MRL. Also make sure that vehicle  train doesn't go to Hauser Yard before you send it west. All and all, The Funnel will be a trainload of fun to dispatch. The territory depicts the current configuration of the track.

Boyer East

NEW! I just finished this new territory just in time for christmas 2003. Since the "Funnel" has been double tracked in the  late 1990's, Boyer East (Sandpoint to beyond Libby, Montana) has be come the new bottleneck on BNSF's northern transcon. This single track railroad is now handling 35-45 trains a day, or more. And with grain and other traffic on the rebound in 2003, this line is congested like never before. So this new territory depicts a typical Fall of 2003 week with traffic very heavy late in the week

Pasco East ver.2

NOW UPDATED to 2003! The next territory is just adjacent to the Funnel. The Pasco East dispatcher often has his hands tied with all the trains moving over this largely single track railroad. Then throw in a couple of hills and some 35 mph trackage through some winding coulees, and you are sure to finish off any semblance of sanity you once had. Only choose Friday if banging your head against the wall is your idea of stress relief.

Pasco West

Continuing the string, this territory covers west of Pasco all the way to Vancouver WA. This is a fast-paced single track railroad. But watch your trains or the whole railroad will be tied in knots. Challenging? very! Monday-Wednesday are normal but has traffic varying through the day. Thursday, a early morning rockslide on the Scenic Sub forces a rush of detouring intermodal trains in the afternoon, easily making this the most challenging day on this territory. Friday, heavy traffic both ways in the Gorge. Saturday, Sunday, back to back SP 4449 steam  excursions from Portland-Wishram-Portland including turing the train on the wye at Wishram. Just don't clear the train down the Oregon Trunk or the passengers will be stranded at Wishram with no ride back to Portland.

SP Dispatcher #68 (Cascade Pass in Oregon)

Dispatch a line down through the years and into the future on this territory. Starting in the 50's with the installation of CTC between Eugene and Crescent Lake, dispatch this line in different eras as the traffic mix changes again and again. Work through the lean years of the 80's right into Post merger UP. And even a hypothetical schedule from the future where Amtrak has enough business between California and the Northwest to support 4 trains a day each way. Help keep such trains as the Cascade Day, PCX, and the Swift Roadrailers on schedule, if you can. Lot's of action here with  helpers and MOW forces all over the hill. I'm still tweaking the schedule as specific info becomes available.

Oh yeah, we can't forget about all these icons. And I've got tons more than this contained in a zip file. If you like western or canadian roads, then your going to love these. I realize that some of you don't play with icons, but I assign certain locomotives to specific train types, that way in a glance I can see which trains has the priority. A ATSF warbonnet CW44-9 on a Z train is sure to have more authority than a BN SD40-2 on a heavy grain train.

TD2 Icons

Also, if you've made a territory for a line in the Pacific Northwest, please E-mail them to me. I can also post your territories here for other train nuts to download.
