Notes:
A

Fort Worth and Western had initially ordered two GG20B hybrids from Railpower with TERP funding, but opted instead for NRE two engine genset units. From Railpower press release and subsequent discussions.

B

FWWR units 1500 and 103 (both EMD GP7's) were sent to NRE for this conversion. Though slightly earlier 2GS14B's DGNO 140 and 141 were built on new frames, FWWR 1400 and 1401 were built on recycled frames, presumably of 1500 and 103. From photo evidence. Which is which isn't known yet. (As of May 2007).

C

1400 was spotted in transit on UP in Arkansas in mid-May 2007. At the same time, 1401 was photographed in the paint booth at NRE Mt. Vernon. From photo evidence.

D

Although they were delivered as FWWR 1400 and 1401, the units were quickly renumbered FWWR 2013 and 2014 respectively, prior to being placed in service.

E

Unit histories from the Unofficial EMD Homepage with a little help from Ken Ardinger and others. Original unit numbers derived from frame number verification by Ken Fitzgerald.

F

Though the 1500's frame number was used by NRE on the new frame, the locomotive still existed at NRE as of Nov. 2007. (See George Redmond's photo). Actual donor unit isn't confirmed or available, and may likely never be traceable.

Mike Murray caught the 1500 in service shortly after joining the FWWR roster. The unit didn't last too long in this image before being repainted to the paint scheme shown in the next photo. July 1996. Click to enlarge.

FWWR 1400

Shortly before it was sent to NRE for conversion to 2GS14B genset switcher 2014, Christopher Palmieri photographed Fort Worth and Western 1500 at FWWR's Hodge Yard. Note that this unit was not used as the conversion frame. Sept. 13, 2006. Click to enlarge.
