Notes:
A

According to a recent press release from NRE, the US Army has ordered a pair of 3GS21Bs for use at Fort Hood, TX. (The press release is not archived online.) they didn't say anything about NRE gensets. Nevertheless, news that they were ordering two 3GS21B's and one 3GS21C was reported in the Trains Magazine special "Locomotive 2007" edition.

B

Because the Army wanted their new units to be delivered quickly, two locomotives from the BNSF order were diverted to fill this order. As such, the 6500 and 6501 are built to BNSF specs. From various discussions and on-site confirmation.

C

Unit sighted at NRE Mt. Vernon in mid-December complete and awaiting paint. Not expected to be delivered until after the first of 2008. 6500 and 6501 will move to Fort Hood, TX together. Update: 6500 and 6501 were expected to be picked up by UP around Jan. 14, 2008 for movement to Texas.
