General Notes:
1. 3 engine genset with dynamic brakes. Rebuilt on existing geep frame. Previous unit numbers listed through UMLER, though some errors have been found in the data listed in UMLER. They are corrected on the site where applicable.
2. Partially completed units prepared at Patterson and shipped to Mayfield in spring 2008 with cabs and dynamic brakes but no gensets. It is not known if these units eventually became the PRLX 2005 and PRLX 2008.
3. Apparently a test bed for Progress Rail's genset locomotive line, this unit was spotted in late August and early September 2007 moving around Georgia sans long hood. From various discussions, it appears that the cab was moved forward slightly to accomodate the genset units, which stand much higher on the frame than the production versions. Unit seen again moving with PRSX 2003 to Mayfield, KY in mid-March 2008.

Notes:
A. From various confidential sources, Progress is developing a 3-engine genset prototype which will test on CP during the spring of 2008. It is expected that this locomotive is the one. First spotted outside Progress' Patterson, GA facility in March 2008. Unit is a 3-engine genset model PR22B.
B. PRSX 2002 in NC in early May headed to the Aberdeen, Carolina & Western Railroad. From sightings and waybill info. Moved from the ACWR to CSX Intermodal (a Progress contract) in Fairfield, GA in Oct. 2008. Departed Fairfield in Jan. 2009 to NS. Tested at Inman Yard in Atlanta during January, then sent to Roanoke, VA for further testing by NS. Returned to Patterson for work in summer 2009. Emerged with A/C units and other modifications, safety stripes on the hood ends, and new PRLX reporting marks.
C. PRSX 2003 spotted in the CSX yard in Waycross, GA in March 2008. Unit was incomplete. The frame had been stripped and primed, and the new cab and short hood installed. It also appeared to have a dynamic brake enclosure in place, but no gensets when photographed. Unit seen in western Kentucky a few days later with 2003 spray painted on side.
D. Current status of this unit unknown. At one point there were two partially completed gensets at Progress Mayfield – the 2003 and 2005. It is likely that the PRSX 2003 ultimately became the PRLX 2008, while the PRSX 2005 was finished and became the PRLX 2005. This has not been confirmed.
E. PRSX 2005 spotted headed north on CSX out of Waycross, GA on April 17, 2008. Unit was incomplete. The frame had been stripped and primed, and the new cab and short hood installed. It also appeared to have a dynamic brake enclosure in place, but no gensets when photographed. 2005 showed up in Louisville, KY on May 1, headed for Mayfield, presumably for finishing as with the 2003.
F. PRLX 2005 first spotted complete and awaitng shipment in Paducah, KY. This is probably the last genset to be buil at Progress' facility in Mayfield, KY.
G. PRLX 2005’s initial demonstration took place on the RJ Corman Railroad in Frankfort, KY. At the beginning of this test, the 2005 was being teamed up with Railpower RP20BD RPRX 5407. Unit has demonstrated on: RJ Corman, Lexington, KY (April 2009); BNSF Railway, Fort Worth, TX (May-June 2009); Fort Worth & Western, Fort Worth, TX (July-Aug. 2009); Indiana Harbor Belt, Hammond, IN (Sept. 2009).
H. PRLX 2006 first spotted near complete at Progress' Patterson, GA facility in mid-March 2009. Unit history unknown at this time.
I. PRLX 2006 demonstrations for this unit include: Florida East Coast, Jacksonville, FL (May-Aug. 2009).
J. PRLX 2008 first spotted in transit from Progress' Mayfield, KY facility in early Sept. 2008. Unit was shrink wrapped from the frame line up during initial transit to Chicago. From Joe Ferguson. At the Railway Supply Institute's Railway Technology Exhibition in Sept. 2008, Progress finally unveiled this unit as its 3-engine genset, model PR22B. The model features three CAT C18 engines generating 745 hp each. The locomotive touts a modular design, with easy removal of each of the gensets, and a dynamic brake option, which this locomotive is built with. Build data was not available for this unit at the convention.
K. PRLX 2008 is very similar in appearance to PRSX 2002, which was seen earlier that year on the Aberdeen, Carolina & Western. From photo comparisons. At RSI, a photo of PRSX 2002 was shown indicating that it had had the end striping and grey roof paint added at some point as well, but visual confirmation by the webmaster afterward is that the 2002 has not been repainted or had its paint modified.
L. 3802's previous unit number reported by an anonymous source. Previous unit info from RRPicutureArchives and the Unofficial EMD Homepage.

Notes:
A. PRSX 2002 previous unit number is listed in UMLER as ACWR 3669, but that unit never existed. Separate reports list the unit as HLCX 3669. That unit's history from the Unofficial EMD Homepage is listed above. Update: Identity confirmed as ex-HLCX 3669 via frame number check by the webmaster in January 2009.
B.
PRSX 2003 previous unit number from an UMLER search. Unit history from the Unofficial EMD Homepage (http://www.trainweb.org/emdloco/35400.htm)
C. PRSX 2005 unit history provided by Joe Ferguson with a little bit of help from the Unofficial EMD Homepage. Unit was also RLK 2004 and HLCX 3629 prior to conversion. UMLER search shows it as former UP 1991, but that has been proven not to be the case. Ex-UP 1991 moved as PRSX 2007 to Mayfield, KY, arriving in late March 2008. It was already at Mayfield before the 2005 began its conversion.
D. PRLX 2005’s donor unit history is not known. It is not known if this unit is the same PRSX 2005 that was seen in near-complete state back in 2008. Because of this, separate entries are being maintained for each unit. It is reported on another site that the frame number of the unit is 35674, which matches the UMLER entry of UP 1991 for PRSX 2005. That unit is definitely not the PRSX 2005. Could it be the PRLX 2005 though? Unit was checked for a frame number while on the FWWR, but the number could not be seen because of the FRA reflective striping tape.
E. PRLX 2006’s donor unit is not known. It is reported that the frame number is 33333, which would make it former CSXT 2015. That matches the UMLER entry for PRSX 2006, but the CSXT core unit was shipped to Mayfield, KY, while the PRLX 2005 was completed at Patterson, GA. I have yet to confirm the unit history, but the history shown is for the 2015 as gathered from the unofficial EMD Homepage (http://www.trainweb.org/emdloco/35400.htm).
F. Previous unit identity is not known at this time. Because of the FRA-required reflective safety striping tape, the frame number could not be seen when it was checked at RSI. It is possible that this unit could be the unit formerly known as PRSX 2003.
G. PRSX 3802 previous unit number from online discussions. That unit's history was compiled from the Unofficial EMD Homepage (http://www.trainweb.org/emdloco/33300.htm) with information from RRPictureArchives (http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/locoPicture.aspx?id=4976).
H. PRSX 2002 shopped at Patterson, GA in mid-2009. When it emerged, it had been renumbered PRLX 2002, and had modifications including cab A/C units and white safety striping on the ends.

PRLX 3006 Progress Rail Unknown Patterson. GA UP Test 1

General Notes:
1. As announced in 2008, Union Pacific and Progress have inked a deal to test five CAT-repowered low emissions locomotives in line-haul service on UP. (http://www.uprr.com/newsinfo/releases/environment/2008/0912_greentest.shtml). The first of the units arrived in UP paint (but not lettered) in early 2009. Others have since followed.

Notes:
A. First demonstrated on Aberdeen, Carolina & Westerns in solid red paint and numbered PRSX 3001. Returned to Progress in Patterson, GA in July 2008. When it emerged for further demonstration, the unit had been repainted in Progress red, gray and white, been modified with dynamic brakes, and renumbered PRLX 3001. From various reports and sightings.
B. PRLX 3001’s demonstrations include: Aberdeen, Carolina & Western, Aberdeen, NC (May-July 2008); Florida East Coast, Jacksonville, FL (May-Oct. 2009+).
C. While PRLX 3005 is in series with the others produced, no firm evidence of its existence has been found as of yet. The roster spot is or was occupied by a former Wisconsin Central GP40, WC 3005. As with other suspected conversions, a hollowed out shell of an SD40-2 numbered PRSX 3005 was spotted at Patterson, GA in 2008. (http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=1149897)
