Originally CP 1704. Built at Alstom Calgary for 2006 delivery to CP using the frame of CP 1544 (GMD GP9m). Contract terminated and unit was not delivered. Spotted at Alstom in Dec., 2006 in CP paint. Equipped with a lerger 500kW diesel generator, giving the unit a noticeable hump at the end of the long hood.

Reported headed to Amtrak 8th St. (Los Angeles) Yard. Returned on lease to Railpower and renumbered 2406. Currently on lease to UP and last reported in West Colton, CA.

Existence of this unit is verified, but not much else. No core unit or converison date is known. Only that is was stationed at Texas Eastman, but isn't there any longer, and that the unit had no visible frame number. Unit is now stored at Bodie, TX. Traded to Railpower for RPRX 2402.
