McGiffert Loaders

Brooks-Scanlon Lumber Company used at least six McGiffert loaders in Bend. Here is an early shot of one of them in service in the early years of B-S operations. Note the horse drawn high wheels that were used to skid logs to the landing. Photo is from the Mark Reusser collection and is used with permission.

Another shot of the same McGiffert. In later years Brooks-Scanlon re-built two of the machines, replacing the power and hoisting equipment with a gas shovel and locomotive crane bodies in the process.
