Oregon & Northwestern Railroad- Hines Shops

Oregon & Northwestern Railroad
Hines Shops

The primary railroad shop contructed by the Edward Hines company for the equipment used on both the logging railroad and the Oregon & Northwestern was located in Seneca. A smaller shop was built between the sawmill complex and headquarters building in Hines. The Seneca shop was abandoned after the end of the logging railroad, and the Hines shop became the maintenance base for the locomotives and equipment used by the Oregon & Northwestern.

In July 1984, four months after the end of operations, Jimmy Bryant was granted access into the shop to photograph the diesels stored inside. The diesels would spend some time in the shop before being moved to one of the drying sheds, where they stayed until rescued by the Feather River Rail Society in 1990.
