1990 Re-Railment Passenger Excursion

On Thursday, 31 May 1990, the Great 1990 Rerailment Celebration was held in Hines and Burns to mark the resumption of service over the restored railroad. WYCO ran a special excursion on that day from Crane to Burns using a leased Union Pacific diesel and four leased passenger coaches, two from the Crooked River Dinner Train (which operated over the City of Prineville Railroad) and two from the Union Pacific.

The re-railment train has arrived in Juntura, OR, where the #6083 has been swapped for leased Union Pacific SD40-2 #3648. WYCO leased the #3648 to power the work and ballast trains operated west of Juntura during the rebuilding of the line between Crane and Burns. Vic Neves photo, courtesy of Wayne Monger.
