A KCS MoW crew working on the diamond before it was replaced in the summer of 1999. Before it's replacement, a crew had to check the diamond weekly (at least) and there was a 10 mph slow order on it for about 6 months.

The same crew later on... The two guys near the tower (on the right) are NS supervisors. The backhoe is parallel with the NS main line. The KCS line runs from near to far.

KCS's GP-10's still wear their MidSouth paint. The one in the picture is in Operation Lifesaver paint. This photo was taken from the 15th street viaduct looking down into the KCS yard. The yard opens up more to the left. To the right, the track splits just after the bridge and county jail. One line runs to Brookwood (and ultamitely Birmingham, via CSX trackage rights) and the other line runs to the interlock.

Here is some KCS maintenance stuff I caught one day. This was taken somewhere between Tuscaloosa and Columbus.

KCS has a series of radio towers (repeaters) between Tuscaloosa and Columbus along the main line. This one is pretty typical and is in Ethelsville.

The entire consist taken from the same field. Locomotives will go back and forth and stop on the bridge while working the yard. The entire bridge is within the yard limits.

This photo was taken from 30th Ave across 15th Street from Thomas' Rib Shack. (Great ribs, by the way). It is looking into a maintenance area of the yard.

In this photo, you will notice an arch and a little shack just in front of the nose of the lead locomotive. This is a turntable. Up until the early 1980's, Tuscaloosa had shops and a roundhouse. The turntable has been damaged and is not supposed to be operated, but is sometimes.
