The Illinois Central System is now part of Canadian National Railways.  Together with CN subsidiaries Duluth, Winnipeg & Pacific and Grand Trunk Western, a complete Y-shaped system reaches across North America from the Atlantic Coast to the Pacific Coast, and to the Gulf of Mexico.  The Illinois Central Railroad comprises of approximately 3370 route-miles of trackage at the "base" of the Y-shaped network, stretching south from Chicago to the gulf ports of New Orleans and Mobile, Ala. and also stretching westward to Sioux City, Iowa and Omaha, Nebraska.  Click on the map to the left on one of the three regions for a more detailed clickable map.
