This picture was taken 2011 in Whitehall. It's a track structure commonly used on model railroads and usually for power isolation. It is an insulated rail joint used to isolate track circuits for occupancy detection to control track side signals. Photo from the Paul Almquist Collection.

This depot is located on the south side of Menomonie, WI, just north of the Red Cedar River. It was owned by the "Omaha" Railroad, not by the Milwaukee Railroad as previously stated. "The Milwaukee Road depot is located across the river and is used as the trail head for the bike path." --Thanks to Jim Bernier for the correction. Photo from the Paul Almquist Collection.
