This website is a collection of HO scale layout images relating to
the Baltimore and Ohio railroad's fictional Monocacy Valley Branch, which (according to legend) ran through central Maryland
between Frederick, MD and Gettysburg, PA. Another imaginary
element of this layout is a model steel mill based on a
collection of Walthers CornerstoneTM
series building kits and some scratchbuilt structures -- this occupied roughly 85 percent of my previous HO real estate.
Since I moved into my new house, time has been quite scarce so I have not yet resurrected the layout. However, I have
been building some industrial props, including a selectively-compressed
Great Lakes ore boat and an
upgraded blast furnace [i.e., closer to true HO scale].
I've rediscovered my Michigan roots and developed a yearning to build a lakeside steel mill
like those found around Chicago, Detroit and Cleveland. With a two-car garage at my disposal,
I now have just enough space for it.
