Saturday October 21, 1961 CNR 6167 Excursion Sunday October 22, 1961 CNR 6167 On Display In Hamilton During the weekend of October 21 and 22, 1961, CNR 6167 was a participant at the Niagara Frontier Region's NMRA Convention in Hamilton. On Saturday October 21, she pulled an excursion from Hamilton to Burlington and Back, and the following day she was on display under steam in Hamilton. Doug Wingfield explains to me that this trip "was part of the NMRA Niagara Frontier Regional convention at the Royal Connaught Hotel in Hamilton. Dave Martin, who worked for CHCH TV at the time, was the chairman and he organized the trip with the cooperation of CNR". "The trip started off at CNR Hamilton station where we were pulled by a yard engine down the industrial line that goes to Stelco and Irondale. This was probably the only time that line saw passenger cars. From there we went past Dofasco and up to Parkdale yard where 6167 was waiting on the Grimsby Sub. It was facing west and our train was coupled to the tender of 6167. The yard engine cut off and we backed to Stoney Creek station. We then headed over the Beach Sub to Burlington where you have the shot of it heading north on a runpast over the canal. At Burlington we took the west leg of the wye behind Burlington station and then headed west on the Oakville Sub back to Hamilton station". Thanks to Don McQueen for sharing his own notes and Doug Wingfield for providing a photo and his account of the of the trip.
