Saturday February 15, 1964 CNR 6167 Excursion
On Saturday February 15, 1964, CNR 6167 pulled an excursion sponsored by the Upper Canada Railway Society from Toronto, to Hamilton and Return. The train's consist included Baggage Car 9166, 9 coaches, a cafeteria car and a car named Amethyst.
Thanks to Don McQueen for providing me with a flyer for the trip and sharing his own notes, and to Brian Switzer for the photo from his collection.
Steam and Snow
All steamed up, ready to go on one of its last mid-winter jaunts, C.N.'s famous Northern, 6167, will once again haul the Society's third STEAM AND SNOW excursion. This year we will head north and west from Toronto, passing through Guelph, Galt, Hamilton and Oakville during the day's travels across the snowblanketed countryside. So worry not about the state of the roads, relax and enjoy the scenic panorama that sweeps past your window, as the engineer does the driving.
For Your Enjoyment
For the railway enthusiast and photo fan, an ample schedule allows lots of time for photo stops and run-pasts at specially chosen, scenic locations. For those with tape recorders, an open baggage car with 110 volt power heads the train, while, for everyone's enjoyment, a Cafeteria Car in mid-train will be serving piping hot refreshments and meals throughout the day.
