Montmagny Bridge Photos - May 23, 2011

On July 6, 1943 CNR 6167 struck sister engine 6166 at mile 77.5 of the Montmagny Subdivision. Grant and Lorna Kingsland happened to visit the site on May 23, 2011 and were kind enough to provide me a number of modern day views of the Bridge and the Station.

A shot of the station looking east. Just beyond the road at the right is the longer bridge. Beyond that but not visible is the bridge at MP77.5. The station is MP78.1, all of 0.6 miles apart.

The station is also a museum www.societehistoiremontmagny.qc.ca. There was no plaque commemorating the Wreck of 6166 and 6166, but there was a plaque documenting the site's history (in French) and mentions other wrecks that have happened here. The image on the right looks like it may be more modern given the Procor tank car. The bridge may be the longer one closer to the station as this bridge has a pedestrian walkway across it which looks to be visible in the image. The middle image shows three tracks. Likely a main, passing track, and spur (likely going into the elevator - which survives today. There is only one track through town now.
