Restoration Journal - August 20, 2008 CNR 1531 Gets A New Home! Photos by Grant Kingsland On August 20, CNR 1531 was relocated to its new home at the Simcoe County Museum, where it too will undergo a cosmetic restoration. The lift was performed by Barrie's Western Mechanical, who seem to quite adept at working with railway equipment- having restored the turntable at the former CPR John Street Roundhouse. I managed to pay it a visit to then engine while it was still in Barrie in the days leading upto the move, but below are photos of it being unloaded at the museum. The tender and CNR Steel Caboose were moved the previous day.
