Painting Of 6167 Has Commenced

The first coat of primer has been applied to 6167. The committee has opted to use a 3 part epoxy system by Sherwin Williams, which consists of a two part priming system followed by a coat of Midnight Black, which is used in Marine service amongst other applications. This system is not inexpensive, but is ultra strong and has a very long life span. After the final coating there has been a nano-technology product offered to us that would give the locomotive's final coating additional UV protection as well as offer protection from any potential graffiti events. Apparently graffiti can be power washed off. The specifics for the Epoxy is as follows:

The Locomotive was Pre-Primed with a Clear Coat of Macropoxy 920 PrePrime, while the actual Primer is Macropoxy 646 - 100 in Grey. The Final Top Coat will be Midnight Black, all by Sherwin-Williams.
