Roaring Camp and Big Trees Railroad

On our Train Trip out west, we visited the Roaring Camp and Big Trees Railroad. It is a small logging railroad which still uses Shays and Heislers on their excursions! The entire railroad is on a steep mountain, so, the utilization of a switchback is mandatory. Even so, the railroad has 10.4% and 11.9% grades in some areas! They have a Class B 2 truck Shay, a Class C 3 truck Shay and a Heisler. We rode the Heisler...
