This car is not the 1418. It is from Plan 3391, Lot 4637, and carried the numbers 1456-1463. These 8 cars were built by Pullman in 1922.

To make your Rivarossi car match, you will need to remove the louvered vents on the sides at the dining room end and totally rework the roof and undercarriage to match your air conditioned or original version. The kitchen windows on the model have vertical dividers which should be removed. At some time around 1950 the upper portion of the large windows was plated over, as in the Whittaker photo above. The Santa Fe sill can be accented better as well.

Painting is more critical for this can than for most. All of the 1456 series except one was painted in the shadow-lined paint scheme during the late 40s. Hendrickson lists the following dates for change from coach green to shadow-lined to two-tone gray. See his book for greater painting details.

For those interested in the 1400-1418 series, Plan 7128 (1400-1413), 7128A (1414-1417) and 7128B (1418) are illustrated below. The Rivarossi car can serve as parts for scratch building these more common cars.

The kitchen side of this plan had four sets of windows in the kitchen, not three, and they were spaced closer. Photos of the opposite side of 1418 appear as 1468 below.

On the corridor side, there was a single window near the vestibule end with the door moved more toward the middle of the car. The three windows on this end of the car also need to move more toward the middle.
