IHC LWT Observation

From Quarter Century.
This is the current tooling of the IHC observation (part numbers 47783 & 47786). This is a model of Pullman Lot 6757, Plan 4115, 4 drawing room, 1 bedroom, Observation Lounge built in 1947. 4 cars were built, Vista Canyon being one of the four. In the mid 50s, Pullman rebuilt the cars into mid-train sleeper-lounge cars. ACF built Vista Club in 1950 to the same specifications. The Vista Club was built sans skirts. These cars were designed after Rivarossi and IHC parted company.
Michael Mosher wrote, "AHM was the importer for the Rivarossi cars, AHM was renamed to IHC. Somewhere along the line, AHM/IHC had their own molds of the Rivarossi cars and was making them under it's name. There was a falling out between IHC and Rivarossi and after a legal battle, IHC could no longer use the molds based on the Rivarossi cars. IHC then made their own new passenger car series, this obs is the new IHC car, not Rivarossi. Also the reason the Rivarossi corrugated side cars are not currently available is because they are still involved in a legal battle over the ownership of them. This came from a discussion on the passenger car list awhile back. The new IHC cars and Con-Cor cars are different but have the similar construction. Namely the roof and windows are together (on the IHC they are one molded piece of clear plastic, with the roof painted) and the sides and floor are one piece. The Rivarossi cars are one piece roof and sides with insert windows and snap in floor. The way to tell the cars apart is to look at the windows, the Rivarossi cars have flush windows while the new IHC have recessed windows."
