Train to the Plane

In a perfect world, you could probably take an intercity train anywhere in the U.S. multiple times during the day. Failing that, you can at least take advantage of rail or transit links to your city's airport...

In Portland, Ore., the MAX Red Line goes right to the main terminal building. In New York City, you can take the subway or the Long Island RR to Jamaica and connect with the JFK AirTrain. You can even still ride the country's very first airport rapid transit link, in Cleveland, Ohio.

This Oct. 5, 2004 photograph shows a southbound Acela racing past the platforms of the rail station at Newark Liberty International Airport. Passengers heading to and from Newark Liberty can use Amtrak Regional and New Jersey Transit local trains that connect with the Port Authority AirTrain monorail system serving all of the airport's terminals.

Does your city have rail or transit links to the airport? The RC&NW wants you to know about and utilize the transportation systems within your communities that can take you to the plane and avoid traffic and parking. To do so, we have compiled this listing of transportation options for your reference. They include both routes that run directly to the airport terminal and those that require a shuttle connection.
