Former McCloud Equipment: Burro Cranes

The McCloud River Railroad owned two Burro Cranes. One of the small Burros was deeded to the Great Western Railroad Museum about 1986, and the other became part of the McCloud Railway in 1992. The McCloud Railway purchased a second-hand Hy-rail crane about 1994 and quickly donated or sold the remaining Burro to a historical society.

Both of these cars were deeded to the Great Western Railroad Museum around 1986, and they are now stored together on private ground in the town and are currenly available for sale. The #501 was one of two former log flats converted to passenger service for the excursion program of the 1960's and 1970's. Photo by and courtesy of Jerry Lamper.

The #1851 as it appears today, stored with some other Great Western Railroad Museum equipment on a strip of private land between the McCloud Railway mainline and the old Champion International truck shop building on the eastern edge of McCloud. The museum recently placed most of it's collection, including this crane, up for sale.
