McCloud Rails : Equipment & Rolling Stock Details
| MCR 1000 The #1000 started life as the very first sliding door all-door boxcar ever built (there were some roll-up door models in use in the east a few years earlier). It was constructed in the mid-1960’s as a first prototype for the sliding door all-door boxcar design. The car was later cut down to a flatcar and used in maintenance-of-way service. It saw very little service in recent years until the current railings were added. The principle use of the car today is in 'troop train' service during the annual Civil War Re-enactments in McCloud. |
