These are a series of four ballast hoppers purchased from the Southern Pacific Railroad. The four hoppers are used in ballast service on the McCloud Railway today. Since the loss of rail access to the company pit at Porcupine due to the abandonment of the Hambone-Lookout trackage by the Burlington Northern Santa Fe, these cars are now loaded as needed with rock delivered by contractors to points along the right-of-way.
