McCloud Rails : Equipment & Rolling Stock Details

MCR 2003
MCR #2003 is a hospital car, used to transport wreck damaged cars that cannot move on their own wheels
to either repair facilities or to the scrap yard. The McCloud Railway built seven of these cars from
ex-Canadian National auto racks around 2000. In early 2004 the railroad sold all but two of these cars
to Jim Dobbas Inc. The remaining two cars are used on the railroad today in maintenance-of-way work.

In July 2003 a Union Pacific freight train derailed at Small, in the Sacramento
River Canyon between Dunsmuir and Mt. Shasta City. UP borrowed several of the MCR hospital cars to help
