McCloud Rails : Equipment & Rolling Stock Details

MCR 825

The #825 as Pat Holden found it in 1984. This flatcar was part of the 820-series, most likely consisting of former log flats retained by the McCloud River for maintenance-of-way use. It has seen very little use in recent years. About 1998 the car was fitted with railings, and it is now used every year during the Civil War Re-enactment to carry troops into battle. Jeff Moore collection.

The #825 seen here in the McCloud yards with a load of trucks, possibly from a derailment clean-up. The diesel switcher cab at the extreme left of the photo belonged to one of three ex-Burlington Northern EMD NW-2 switchers, which were obtained by the Great Western Railroad Museum in the mid-1980's. The three were stored on the McCloud up until the time that all three were scrapped in late 2001/early 2002.
