Nowingi Locomotive

Nowingi Locomotive

The Nowingi locomotive was built to shunt gypsum wagons from the Nowingi gypsum plant to
the mainline. The frame of an old 'Y' class steam engine was utilised with a GM71 series diesel
motor driving a hydraulic drive to a chain drive to the back axle, then utilising the engine's side rods
to drive the other two axles. Last sighted 6th February 2007 stabled, Ballarat East yard sidings.

now owned by Pacific National and used as a shunter at Adelaide's
Keswick interstate passenger terminal. Last sighted 26th January

Railway. One of 3 built, this rail/road shunter was originally owned by
